Ireland Seminar DVD Availble

I’m not one for Bujinkan commercialism and I don’t think my good friend Alex Meehan is either, but when in Ireland he had one of his students filmed the training. In result, Alex has put together a very nice DVD of the training from those 2 days in Ireland, including the first night of training at Alex’s Dojo.

I think that the production of this video is one of the best I have seen.

Wow – looks awesome, Im going to see if I can secure a dvd for my dojo. It’s nice to see how the art is doing in the rest of the world.

I got it, and it surprised me that a professional guy filmed it !
The quality is very good but in general the sound and angels is poor.
But if you would like to see Doug San in the role as an instructor, I recommend it.

Thank you for your mail Alex.
I just wanted to point out the fact that you shouldn’t expect a “professional” made DVD when you order this.
Since you used the microphone on the camera the sound is low sometimes so you have to turn the volume up to be able to hear what is said.
Since the camera is mainly static in the best interest of the participants you are not always getting the best angle.
But as I said in the earlier post, the quality is very good and I recommend it.

Doug’s taijutsu speaks for itself. Who cares if he occasionally turns away from the microphone when teaching?

It’s Taijutsu. Focus on the movement.

Watch Doug’s hips.

Watch Doug’s spine.

Watch Doug’s footwork.

Observe Doug’s timing.

Examine the way the space changes when Doug moves.

All these are much more useful than turning up the volume on occasion….

Doug…great dvd man. I really enjoyed it. It wouldn’t play in any of my dvd players…but it worked in my computer. Always great to see good movement…without all the fluff. you should definitely do more.

The teaser was enough. I think it will be a wise purchase. I wonder if Alex’s guy could burn ‘em in for our region? As always, it is awesome to watch great movement. Make Dave bring you out to Seattle again soon.

My name is Doug Wilson, originally from the US (CA). I have been studying martial arts for almost 30 years, 20+ of those years in the Bujinkan. I have spent 13 of those years in Japan training at the Hombu Dojo. I act as a main interpreter for the Hombu Dojo and have co-translated the above books by Hatsumi Soke, released by Kodansha International. I feel that the time is right to provide my acquired information to the Bujinkan public about training in Japan. I guess I can say from my unique position and close proximity to Soke, I can provide a perspective that most can not. Here, I will post what I have recently learned, translated, experienced, and interpreted as well as been told to say. Some may find the content to be too direct or controversial. It is not meant to be, it is the truth provided in a “zero” way to those people who are interested in hearing it. It is not a place designed to draw fire from those who live online, expending energy arguing about things that mean nothing. I am a student of Hatsumi Soke and this is MY perspective. I hope to provide an insight to the dedicated practitioners of Hatsumi Soke’s Budo and the Bujinkan.
