West Coast Buyu Camp

Thought I would take a quick moment to remind the Buyu about the upcoming annual Buyu Camp in my home state of California.  Please see details below:

The West Coast BuYu Camp is rapidly approaching.  This year’s camp is located at the Headlands Institute near San Francisco, June 27th – 29th.

Please check the website for the schedule of events and other important details:  http://www.winjutsu.com/seminars/buyucamp/index.html

We look forward to seeing you all at the camp for some great training!

  2. Hi Doug,
I totally agree with Dale. For those of us who’ve been to these camps since 1986,this has become our annual family/class reunion. There is a year’s worth of material folks will take away with and the training is taught in a relaxed and enjoyable manner. It’s a real treat for us old timers to see so many of the new particpants who become swept up in the “Buyu Spirit”.
Look forward to seeing everyone in a couple of weeks.Take care!
    Dave

  3. The Buyu Camp training was superb. Our motto for these training events is “No one is invited, everyone is welcome”, and it’s always interesting to see who shows up. It was a pleasure as always to have the benefit of Jack Hoban’s perspective, and I was pleased and impressed by the quality of the training presented by the volunteer instructors in the afternoon “breakout sessions”.

Our departed brother Greg Dilley was well remembered and his physical absence acknowledged at the camp. One surprising thing got me a little misty-eyed, but in a good-feeling way:

Headlands Institute has its own flag which normally flies on the mast at the training site, one I usually refer to as the “Gaia flag”. When I arrived Friday evening I found that it had been replaced — not by any of us, as far as I was ever able to determine — by one I know was dear to Greg’s heart, which flew there the entire weekend. Those who knew Greg should get a fond chuckle or two out of the fact that the skull and bones of the pirates’ Jolly Roger looked down on us the whole time. :-)
