Hey, Luke here from Kageyama Dojo (2008 Senchusei Uchideshi), I was privileged to be one of the camera crew for the Taikai and I thought this was awsome! I hope we have something like this again. I am very greatfull for Shihan’s Court Elliot and Craig Olson for organizing this for us. We (the Uchideshi) will be ariveing in Japan this August and hope to meet many of the Shidoshi and Shihan from around the world, and of course Soke!

This is definitely a “moment” for the Bujinkan in Canada. Kudos to the organizers.

I look forward to catching a glimpse of the different Shihan’s training ideas and meeting other Canadian Bujinkan members.

Since many years we are Bujinkan members, and we arrived in Montréal, Canada, last year, on the 1sth August 2007, to start a new life. And the big question for us, was “Can we work like in Europe, with the others Bujinkan Dojo?”. So, when we recieve, thanks to Craig, the invitation to participate like instructors, it was a really, really beautiful suprise and a great news. Our first reaction was “Yes! we will meet the others Bujinkan teachers of Canada and share ours anderstanding of Hatsumi Sensei teaching”.
Now, at two months to this great event, we are so excited and impatient to participate, to meet everybody and to introduce ourselves at Canadian Bujinkan members that honore us to be accepted by you.
This Taikai is completly in agreement with Hatsumi Sensei, because he wants us to “Work in community and train together”. And participate at this first Canadian Taikai, it’s a great honore for everybody.
We hope to see many people, because participate to this Taikai it’s really an occasion not to miss.

Arnaud’s right! I encourage everyone from Canada, and especially my home dojo Bujinkan Quebec to attend! It’s also a great opportunity for those who have never been to Japan or visited other dojos to see new things, and other good teacher’s perspective.

I am glad to see after many long years that a Canadian event is taking place my only regret that I wish I was able to be home to attend this event. I sincerly hope that something special comes out of it so more events like this can happen in the future

Wish I could be there, seems like a very very good Taikai that’s coming up. Sadly enough I live in Belgium and traveling is expensive enough. I wish you all a very good training.

Dear Canadian Buyu,

To add to Doug’s post, I think it is important to precise that this Canadian Taikai regrouping the Canadian Shihan has been decided in Japan, by Hatsumi Sensei himself, last year.

I am happy to see that the Bujinkan in Canada is now mature enough to organize such a big event! I hope that this will be an opportunity for the Canadian Buyu to gather and share more of Sensei’s arts. the time of theNinja wars is over now, and the organization of a Taikai in Canada is the best proof of it.

In my humble opinion, all dedicated Bujinkan members in Canada should attend to this seminar and have to go beyond the inevitable tensions that have been existing until then. We keep saying that the Bujinkan is like a big family. But in a “real” family, you do not love all your uncles and relatives equally. But once a year, it is nice to have these “family gathering” (for weddings, birthdays etc) and to foster a different state of mind.

As Bujinkan members, your are following Hatsumi Sensei’s vision of Budou, not only the vision of your teacher. You have to accept that not everyone is understanding the Bujinkan in the same manner and this is why the Bujinkan is so rich.

The Bujinkan is rich of its differences and the Canadian Taikai is the place to be this year to understand that.

I wish you a big success and hope that a vast majority of Canadian Members of the Bujinkan will attend.
