Are you really Shihan?

Is not Shihan a word and title that should be reserved for the Japanese teachers?- I questioned Soke.

Soke said, “No”.  “Shihan means gentleman teacher and nothing more”.

Up to us to keep that title.

I just want to say that as a Bujinkan practitioner who hasn’t been to Japan, I’m getting valuable insights from your blog.

    Please keep it going :)

I just want to say that as a Bujinkan budoka who has been to Japan that the most important point about a budoka is to be a truly gentleman,so it is true.

Once upon a time Hatsumi Sensei asked to his teacher Soke Takamatsu sensei about what was the most important “point” for being a true warrior .Takamatsu Sensei said to Hatsumi that the most important point for being a true warrior is to be a true budoka , a real gentleman and to have a true heart o Ko No Kokoro.
